I’m running some two for one specials today at Mommyish! You not only get the color card… but a new tutorial as well!
Ok, yeah it wasn’t planned. What happened is I have my little 11 month old monster who has a cold. If any of you know.. nursing babies with colds are MISERABLE. We’ve been using that snot sucker thingie.. saline, etc.. but she is just pretty unhappy. I don’t blame her! And due to this I wasn’t able to get my color card up! But now here it is in all its glory!
I really loved the soft feel of this picture. We associate fall with lots of bright colors but this somehow stays subtle. I LURVE IT!
Ok, onward to the tutorial! I was playing around with my workspace and thought “Hey, maybe I could give a “tutorial” on how to do that..” so here you go!
I’m a little late in posting this but it wasn’t due to actually *being* late. I had a dentist appointment today.. then afterward a guy rear-ended us.. and the baby is cutting 15 molars at once.. so let’s just say it has been a “fun” day. The neat thing is while I was thinking about the tutorial today (which I couldn’t record yesterday due to the tree guys making a LOT of noise) an idea hit me! What if I made stitching brushes out of CU stitching sets I already owned… and what if I added that realistic thread texture as a brush too? What would happen? EPICNESS IS WHAT HAPPENS!
Just watch! I think you are going to LOVE this tutorial!
There needs to be some tweaking of the texture brush. To achieve different effects I changed the color and blending modes. For example in the example above the texture brush is duplicated 3 times. Top is Overlay in Black, Middle is hard Light in White, Bottom is Overlay in Black and then the base is the solid color. Play around with your layer blending modes and have a good time!

I had asked last week for tutorial requests! I received one request on making and using paths. I may end up making another tutorial about paths because they are SOOO useful. This is a tutorial that teaches you how to create paths out of shapes and selection tools for creating dynamic text areas and brushing area thingies. So watch the tutorial below and see how using paths can help you!
And this is where I try to get you to BUY MY THINGS. 😛 Seriously though, I have an older kit up today at P&Co for 50% off called Spooked. It is a bit dark for a Halloween kit but I like it! It is only $3 through Thursday. Also.. the 33% off sale is still on just use the code: mommyish33 at P&Co.
